After a small prayer house on Rekumer Straße (today Stadtsparkasse) was sufficient for church services for the Protestant community for 56 years, the first Protestant parish church was built in 1911 - 1912.
A total of 50 people came together for the first service in 1855; In 1899 the number of parishioners had already increased to 700 people and the "immigration" due to the expansion of mining in the north ensured a constant increase in the number of members, so that the presbytery considered building a larger church.
