In 1880, day laborer Jacob de Vries and his wife Janna Bijma bought four acres of land on the Hoornsevaart. This Workers' House was built on it and was inhabited until 1959. The Ommelander Museum restored the monument and put it into use in 1993. Now the interior of the cottage provides a good picture of the life of a farm worker and his wife around 1900.
