Tips

  • The bronze monument, erected in 1909, is dedicated to "The Memory of Ferdinand von Schill and His Comrades in Arms." Ferdinand Baptista von Schill was a Prussian officer who fell in Stralsund on May 31, 1809, during the Napoleonic Wars, after occupying the city a few days earlier.

The Berlin sculptor Hans Weddo von Glümer created the monument. It was restored in 2019.
