From the outside, the cathedral, which was completely finished in 1978, looks a bit edgy. The church only unfolds its full charisma when you enter the interior. The dimensions are then only noticeable. The large west window lets you pause in astonishment before you begin to wonder why there is a large and at least a small model of the well-known red telephone booths in the church:
In 1903, the Church of England hosted an architectural competition for church construction. The design of the 23-year-old student Giles Gilbert Scott was awarded. Scott, who came from a renowned family of architects, later also designed the red British telephone booths.
