At Dorpsstraat 48, in villa Ter Ide, there is the studio of the still living artist Martin Wallaert. Artist Martin Wallaert studied in Antwerp at the Decorative Art School and the National Higher Institute. He received several prizes and awards for his drawings and oil paintings. He has exhibited in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark and the United States. Books have been written about him and several films have been made about him. He is called one of the last Latem painters. The artist is still active and regularly organizes exhibitions.
