This 44 ha forest is mainly owned by the della Faille d'Huysse family, who live in the castle of Lozer.

At the end of the 18th century, the forest was much larger.

At that time, there was a windmill on an open space at the highest point of the forest. The wooden standard mill, already mentioned in 1571, was owned by the lord of Huysse. In 1885, it was sold and demolished.

In the 19th century, a large part of the forest was reclaimed and converted into agricultural land, and a linear avenue pattern was also constructed. At the end of the road that starts from the castle in a northeasterly direction, a church was built by the della Faille family in 1844.
