A mill "at the stone house" was first mentioned in 1316. This is the first documented mention of the place.
The mill, of which only a few walls remain today, was twice destroyed by major fires.
In September 1923, a fire broke out on the top floor of the then state-of-the-art mill. The local fire brigades tried to request a motorized pump from Kulmbach – unfortunately, their calls went unanswered, and the delay led to the complete destruction of the mill's equipment.
After the major fire, the mill was modernized again by the owners in 1958.
