When the ruins of the former Munich East depot were to be built over, the "Blue-winged Wasteland Cricket", which had settled there between the remains of the tracks and birch trees, provided a compromise: the eastern part towards Baumkirchener Straße was allowed to be built up quite densely (with interestingly curved apartment blocks , so not at all "Munich Cube"), but the western part became an ecological priority area. Remnants of track, turntable, etc. were left in place, and a concrete plank path leads across the site. An oasis of calm in an otherwise densely built-up area!

Hiking

The old railway depot has been renaturalized; a concrete path leads through the old tracks to an old turnstile. Many small lizards cross the path. I didn't see any birds or butterflies.
