After my route from Lenggries to Tegernsee last Saturday, I want to complete the loop today on paths that are as new as possible.

I get off the first train and immediately turn into the Tegernseer Höhenweg at the station, which not only offers me wonderful panoramic views over the lake and the mountain

Surprised, I read an article about the Walchenklamm in the North German newsletter for geeks of a certain age: heise.de/ratgeber/Walchenklamm-Bayerns-spektakulaeres-Fotorevier-entdecken-11362460.html

This is almost exactly halfway between two train stations - I have to go there!

After an extensive Scottish breakfast (Haggis and Black Pudding!), I want to catch the first ferry, so I take the shortest route to Brodick. After a short promenade with a beautiful view across to Holy Island, this path leads nicely (and not too muddy) through the forest, always parallel to the road

Today I'm circumnavigating the southern tip of Arran, on a path that can only be fully traversed at low tide.

So after three hours of heroically searching for a path through the wet green, scrambling over boulders, and sinking into mud puddles along the beach, I take a lunch break on the high bank near

Staying overnight in a Scottish Youth Hostel is very similar to Alpine Club huts. More self-catering, less mountain cuisine. But in the morning, deer outside the window and leather sofas for writing Komoot reports.

I tear myself away from the sofas, because today's path will be long. Besides, rain is

After all the training hikes through the most beautiful corners of Essen, today follows the highlight of my Ruhr area week: The Mammutmarsch Ruhrgebiet in its 55km flavor!
