The dyke construction locomotive (built in 1963) was used in the 1970s for dyke construction in Butjadingen.

The Weser fairway, which at that time still ran close to the coast, shifted so far over time that the port lost importance as a trading center. Today the port is connected to the Weser fairway via the Fedderwarder Priel.

In addition to the ships, a Diema DS30 locomotive has also been housed in the port area as a memorial locomotive since 2004. The locomotive, built by Diema in 1963 under the serial number 2589, belonged to the Heinrich von Bloh construction company in Bad Zwischenahn and was also used for dike construction work in Butjadingen. It is therefore also intended to commemorate the important role of the dikes for the region.

The condition of the machine and the two wagons is quite good, although the vehicles are exposed to the maritime climate. (Source: lok-report.de/news/deutschland/museum/item/5178-diema-denkmallok-im-hafen-von-butjadingen-fedderwardersiel.html)

It is a Diema locomotive of the DS30 type, type B-dm for the 600 mm track width. Type “B-dm” means that it had two jointly driven axles in one frame and was powered by diesel fuel and had a mechanical power transmission.

Most recently used by “Tiefbau Heinrich von Bloh KG” in Bad Zwischenahn-Petersfehn.
