This signpost pillar is a historic form of signpost made of stone. There were both postal columns and some time later communal signposts.

Of the two bicycle and mountain bike highlights on the Elefantenpfuhl listed on the Komoot map, this one is in the right place. On the column you can still find the old spelling "Straussberg", which goes back to the former name of the lake. This was initially called “Struz”, later it became “Strauss”. The city on the Strauss was then logically Straussberg or Straussberg. The lake was renamed “Straussee” again, which made it clear that the second "s" belongs to the word part "lake". From then on the city was also called "Strausberg".
