The church of the Invention of the Holy Cross is the parish church of Croce di Piave. After the old church along the San Marco embankment had been destroyed by a flood of the Piave in 1724, the new one was rebuilt at a safe distance, 500 meters from the river, along the road that was to become the main one in the town (via Croce ). For its construction - according to the neoclassical models in vogue at the time - stones and what was recovered from the furnishings of the ruined church were used (stones and bricks were enough, however, to reach half the height). The new parish church was inaugurated on 10 June 1731 by Archbishop Zacco.
