The two mighty rock towers, the so-called Großer and the Kleine Rot(h)enstein, which is just over 50 m to the south, are located in the middle of the western steep slope of the Rötelberg, about 600 m east of the small village of Stübig. Prehistoric finds were recovered here at the end of the 1950s. The rock towers probably served as ritual sites, so-called “sacrificial places”.
