In 1814, a guarantee office for gold objects was established, which was officially called 'Goud- en Zilversmitkeurhuis' or 'Guarantee Office', but because these names were considered too long, the name 'Gold Office' was soon popularly adopted.
Nowadays it houses a restaurant.
