The Gare de l’Est, formerly known as the Gare de Strasbourg, is the oldest train station in Paris, inaugurated in 1850 by Napoleon III. It is from this emblematic station that the legendary Orient Express, which linked Paris to Istanbul, departed. Today, it serves the Grand Est region of France as well as cities in Germany and Luxembourg. The station houses a 110 square meter bunker, and many shops and restaurants are located there. Its rooftop also offers a most original view of the capital.
