Piazza dei Miracoli

There are several sights in Piazza del Duomo in Pisa. The square is also called Piazza del Miracoli. Here you can find the Battisterio, Duomo Santa Maria Assunta, Leaning Tower and the Camposanto Monumentale.

The Piazza del Duomo is the most important artistic and tourist center of Pisa. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987, you can admire the four monuments that form the center of the city's religious life, called miracles (so named by Gabriele D'Annunzio in the expression "Prato dei Miracoli", contained in novel Perhaps that yes perhaps that not, from 1910) for their beauty and originality: the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Campo Santo and the Bell Tower. From this derives the popular (and improper) name of Piazza dei Miracoli, which spread after the war and again in the era of mass tourism.
