The construction of the staircase was suggested by the chairman of the Petersgmünd fire brigade, Martin Driesslein, at a board meeting. Construction began on September 10, 2021. The material (oak planks, steel rods and gravel) was provided by the municipality of Georgensgmünd. The difference in height of at least 8 meters between the hiking trail and the "Bauernwehr" has since been eased by 43 steps. The "Driessleinsteig" could be realized within 2 days thanks to this sweaty voluntary work by the members of the association.
