Beautiful church surrounded by an old ring wall with staircases and towers! Unfortunately, the church was closed!

According to experts, the Bergfelder fortified church is one of the most beautiful and best preserved fortified churches in our country. The mighty walls that surround the church are double on the south side with a kennel in between.

The fortifications date from the early 16th century. In the portal at the main entrance we find the year MDLXXI (i.e. 1571)

The current church was built between 1513 and 1517. The name Remigiuskirche comes from a Franconian settlement around the year 600 on Bergfelder district, which had dedicated their church at that time to their national saint Remigius.
