The Rathenow Brachymedial telescope is the largest of its kind in the world. The telescope is set up without a dome and can be rotated in two axes. It was designed and built in the years 1949-1953 by the Rathenow engineer Edwin Rolf (1899-1991). The telescope is a technical monument and was completely renovated in 1994-1996.

Once a year the serenade takes place under the starry sky in the Optik Park Rathenow. All the exhibits in the park, including the telescope, are very nicely illuminated.
