The Britzer Allee Bridge (its official name, which is also visible from the waterfront) is also called the Chris Gueffroy Bridge. Chris Gueffroy was the last victim of the GDR border regime.

The original bridge was destroyed in World War II and initially only temporarily rebuilt. The construction of the Berlin Wall also severed the connection between Britz and Baumschulenweg. Only after German reunification was the bridge reopened with the use of a temporary USTH bridge (USTH = relocatable steel elevated road).
