Today's church of Niederwerth stands at the end of the village. It is a branch of Vallendar and today belongs to the parish of Vallendar-Urbar.

Only the church and a few ruins remain of the former monastery, originally an Augustinian monastery. When exactly the church was built is uncertain. It was consecrated in 1474 by auxiliary bishop Hubert. Over time, the church and the monastery have experienced an eventful history.

As soon as you enter the church through the main entrance, the eye immediately falls on the high altar in the Gothic room, which is richly decorated with carved images from the life of Jesus. The images are not in the correct chronological order. Behind the high altar shine three large stained windows that tell of the lives of various saints.

The church is also richly decorated with figures of saints that stand for the eventful history of the monastery or were important for the people of Niederwerth. The church houses a special jewel in the “Cap of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux”. In the back left of the church, Maria is greatly venerated as “Our dear Lady of Worth”.
