Gloomy weather ☁️, saving energy for tomorrow's carnival party 🤡 – so just a short stroll. How convenient that I have my neighborhood-circling project for such occasions, and Friedrichstadt, a small but densely populated district of Düsseldorf, was next on the list. 👍 There was plenty of street art

It's been almost a year since we hiked the last leg of the Westphalia Hiking Trail! 😮 So it was all the more wonderful that we finally had the opportunity to hike it again today, on such a fantastic sunny, spring-like Sunday in February. ☀️

Today was finally our last day of hiking on El Hierro. 😢 The temptation to simply stay in Tamaduste and chill by the natural pool was strong (and in hindsight, would have been the right decision), but we had a few spots planned in the north. 👀

Today was a hike of superlatives, because ahead of us lay the longest route, the most elevation gain, and the most descent. So we started early. 🥱 Almost all the elevation gain was right at the beginning: From Frontera, we hiked up the Camino de Jinama to the Mirador viewpoint of the same name. 🥵

Today's coastal hike from La Maceta to Las Puntas was a real highlight ⭐️. But first, we had to get from Frontera to the starting point. On the way, we stopped again at the Campanario de Joapira, perched atop a hill, and then hiked down to the eastern edge of Frontera, where a waterfall 💦 was supposed

This morning we took the bus 🚌 to Frontera. They kindly let us leave our backpacks 🎒 at our next accommodation, so we traveled light. That was a good thing, because the hike started with a climb of just over 800 meters. 👀

Hardly any elevation gain today, so it's practically a rest day! 😝 We started with a steep descent from Sabinosa to Pozo de la Salud, which translates to "Well of Health." ⛲️ This small coastal town does indeed have a well, but more importantly, it boasts a large spa hotel. It couldn't be more beautifully

We were woken by the loud patter of rain 🌧️ and quickly decided to wait a bit and then do a shorter hike than planned. Unfortunately, this meant missing out on the Orchilla lighthouse in the far southwest 😢, but it would have been a challenge to reach without our own car anyway.

We had originally planned a different hike for today, but our landlord couldn't take us to our desired starting point, and buses don't go to western El Hierro. 😕 But he did give us a lift to the entrance of the Mencafete Nature Reserve 🙂 and from there we simply hiked a different loop to our next destination
