The parish of Liebfrauen is the oldest parish in Koblenz. This is where Christian life in Koblenz began in the early Middle Ages.

The Liebfrauenkirche has always been (beside St. Kastor) the parish church of Koblenz. Its beginnings date back to the 5th century, when the Franks built a church in the Roman walls. It was rebuilt several times using the foundations.
The double-tower façade in the west corresponds in its representative effect to the western facades of the former Koblenz collegiate churches of St. Kastor and St. Florin in Koblenz.
The Liebfrauenkirche has 4 bells in its bell tower. In memory of the closing of the city gates and the associated tattoo, the ringing of the Barbaraglocke, the so-called "Ragged Bell", was maintained over the years. Every evening at 10 pm the "Ragged Bell" rings. After that, bells and hourly chimes are silent until the early morning.
The old rectory of the Liebfrauenkirche is located immediately south of the Florinskirche.
