The Block Tower in Nürtingen is the remainder of the medieval city fortifications.
The name refers to the prison it once housed: people used to be put in the "block" as a punishment. The Block Tower secured the southeast corner of the city wall, which was first mentioned in 1354. The dark dungeon with only one opening in the ceiling is still preserved today.
The Block Tower can be visited in conjunction with a city tour.
