Unfortunately, it is not possible to determine exactly when this place was first used for burials. There is evidence of burials from the New Stone Age (Neolithic) between 2800 and 2200 years BC. and probably into the Middle Ages.

A second war memorial stands on Rössen Hill. Like the one at its base, it commemorates the dead of the First World War (1914-1918) and, at first glance, resembles a menhir, such as those commonly found on burial mounds (e.g., in Salzmünde, Halle-Kröllwitz, or Steigra). At second glance, its shape also resembles a milestone (compare the milestone in Ammendorf, but it is not one). The dates of the First World War are concealed in the slightly overhanging slope of the stone setting. Furthermore, an ornamental pattern adorns one side and an inscription the other, in the southeast:
