The Stadsmolen is a very beautiful, several times restored, round stone tower mill with an upper porter. It is located on the Molenbolwerk.
There used to be a mill here centuries ago. The current mill was built in 1792. This was done by order of the national government to serve the soldiers who were housed in the city. The coat of arms of the States General in The Hague is bricked in above the entrance doors. It is a so-called scaffolding mill. It is built with yellow IJssel stones. The rack is eight meters high. Above that the blades with a flight of 26 meters in diameter. After 1800 the mill passed into private hands. The municipality of Hulst bought the mill in 1954. Today the mill is drained by a volunteer miller.

The height of the scaffolding (circulation) is eight metres.
The flight (the length of the blades) is 24.26 meters.
    The mill has two couplers.
The mill was in operation until the 1930s, albeit with a gas engine in recent years.

After 1940, the mill fell into serious disrepair. The position was demolished in 1944. To make matters worse, in 1954 lightning struck and a fire broke out.

Thanks to the efforts of the then municipal council, the mill was restored in 1956. As a result, the mill was externally restored to its former glory and was given the name Stadsmolen. After all, it belonged to the city.

In 1976, the city council decided to have the mill, which had revealed only serious defects, restored. This restoration was completed in 1979. Since 1984, annual maintenance has been carried out on the Stadsmolen. Restoration work was carried out again in 1992.
