The year 1597 above the side portal refers to a conversion of the historic town hall built in 1512 and is inscribed with "BARTHOLOMEVS BAUERSCHMID, BAVMESDER D(er) Z(eit)". The statement on the information board that the original main building from 1512 was built by "Schlossbaumeister Daniel Engelhardt" is not documented.
