Four reservoirs to see here, two of which provide drinking water to Macclesfield. There are mainly pine trees in the forest. Cheshire's two highest points overshadow the forest so keep scanning the horizon for Shining Tor and the peak of Shutlingsloe, which is often called the 'Cheshire Matterhorn' thanks to its Toblerone-esque shape.

There are a number of downhill tracks in the forest, don't be tempted to ride down these on gravel bikes unless you have an aggressive tread. Forest floor is mainly rotten pine needles, and whilst it is rideable, even in dry whether it is incredibly slippery

A great place to park and take in the myriad of walking, running and riding opportunities in this lovely part of Cheshire.
