The monolith for the Royal Saxon triangulation is embedded in the Albert Tower. This station on the Collm was used as 1st order station no. 18 for land surveying and had a central position in Saxony's triangular network. When visibility was good, the 1st order stations on the Fichtelberg, Röden in Thuringia, Kahleberg in the Eastern Ore Mountains and Keulenberg southwest of Kamenz could be targeted. Other 1st order stations that can be seen from the Collm are the stations Hohburg, Strauch, Weida, Großdobritz, Baeyerhöhe, Udohöhe, Pfaffenberg, Rochlitz and Leipzig. But that also means that from these heights you can also see the Collm in the north of Saxony.
The 2nd order stations no. 103 to 107 were also targeted from the Collm.
The beautiful view from the tower invites hikers and cyclists to climb this hill. Well-kept benches invite you to take a rest.
