It is the largest Gothic-Angevin basilica in the city, characterized by a cloister that includes four monumental cloisters , the archaeological excavations in the area and several other rooms that house the homonymous Museo dell'Opera , which in turn also includes the visit of the Nuns' choir with the remains of Giotto's frescoes, a large refectory, the sacristy and other surroundings of the basilica.

Santa Chiara (Italian Basilica di Santa Chiara, also Monastero di Santa Chiara) is a former Poor Clare convent in Naples and includes the church of Santa Chiara, an adjacent monastery and an archaeological museum. The church is the burial place of Neapolitan kings from the two Capetian dynasties, House of Anjou and House of Bourbon-Sicily.

The church has neither a transept nor a choir; a wall with windows closes off the room. Four members of the Anjou are buried in tombs on the altar wall. Among them is the original four-story tomb monument of Robert of Anjou, which was the largest royal tomb in Naples and was created between 1343 and 1345 by the Florentine sculptors Bertini. Most of the funerary monuments were created by Tino di Camaino.
