The St. Anthony's Chapel, on whose foundations the present church stands, was made of wood and was said to have been built between 1460 and 1480 by the then owner of the hut, Hans Streit.
On June 29, 1505, Duchess Elisabeth raised the small St. Anthony Chapel of the Bergstadt Grund to a separate parish church by means of a foundation certificate.
On June 7, 1902, the dwarf was installed at the market well in front of St. Anthony's Church. The dwarf works on a rock, from which then the water jet breaks out. He thus represents a symbol of the mountain town Grund.
On April 14, 1942, the parish had to deliver 2 church bells of St. Anthony's Church as part of the precious metal collection. On October 12, 1948, the then new bells of St. Anthony's Church were consecrated. In June 2005, the bells could be replaced by new ones.

The St. Antonius Church in Bad Grund is a striking landmark of the town.
The Evangelical Lutheran church is located right in the heart of the spa town on the market square
and is a popular sightseeing destination for holidaymakers and day-trippers.
As a traditional miner's church, it is clad in slate on the outside and has a wooden barrel vault on the inside as well as a gallery with seating and a large organ.
