Location: Schönwald, Landkreis Wunsiedel im Fichtelgebirge, Upper Franconia, Bavaria, Germany
Built in the year 1777 and then again and again expanded castle building with the seat of the Borch'schen forest administration (not to be visited).
The outbuildings and the forester's lodge in the Sophienreuth district, both built around 1873, are listed as the castle itself.

Built in 1777 and then expanded again and again, the castle building is the seat of Von der Borch's forest administration (not open to the public).
Farm buildings and the forester's lodge in the district of Sophienreuth, both built around 1873, are listed as monuments, as is the castle itself.

The castle avenue with its old chestnut and beech trees is under nature protection. For this reason, everything is done to preserve the trees:
Trees that have already been hollowed out inside were reinforced with iron struts and thus stabilized.
Especially in spring, when the fresh green of the leaves shines through, and in autumn with the wonderful color of the leaves, a detour is worthwhile.
It's only about 200 meters from the "Perlenroute" cycle path to here, which is definitely worth it.
