On the north route between the station Kirchenlamitz-Ost and the Kornberg summit lies the ruins of the rock castle Hirschstein (744 m above sea level). It was the site of a former castle, but of which only a few sparse remains can be seen.
The Hirschstein Castle, which was originally one of the oldest in the Fichtelgebirge, is said to have belonged to Hirzberg "zen Herschenstein" already in 1206 Rüdiger and Utzo. The castle was destroyed in the middle of the 14th century and never rebuilt.
