The builder of the Trippstadter castle was Franz Karl Josef Freiherr von Hacke. He was as Obristjägermeister with the rule Wilenstein belhen. His task was to administer the electoral hunting and forest areas.
The castle garden is freely accessible all year round.
Today, the castle is the seat of the Research Institute of Forest Ecology and Forestry.
