In the park Tegnérlunden are two statues of Astrid Lindgren (1907-2002, statue of Majalisa Alexanderson, 1996) and August Strindberg (1849-1912).
Several of Lindgren's books are linked to the park and e.g. 'Mio My Mio' begins in this very park, where the boy Bo Vilhelm Olsson meets the ghost who takes him to the 'land in the distance'.
The statue of Strindberg was created by Carl Eldhs on Lindberg's last birthday (1912). In 1916 the statue was completed in full size, but it was erected until the 30th anniversary of the death of Strindberg.
On the corner Tegnérgatan / Drottninggatan Strindberg lived in the so-called Blue Tower from 1908 to 1912. Here is now the Strindberg Museum.
On the Drottninggatan between No. 67 and No. 85 one finds some famous Strindberg quotes. For example: What is economy? A science that has been invented by the upper class in order to be able to reap the benefits of the work of the lower class. "" I have to have children. Because without childrens cry I could not work ".
