The St. Johanniskirche is the oldest Soltau church. It was first mentioned in documents in 1464. The stone building, which replaced the previous wooden church, was extended again in 1597/98. In 1755 the church was demolished and a late Baroque hall church was built.

On Christmas night 1906, the church burned down completely. The present St. Johanniskirche was rebuilt in neo-baroque style and inaugurated in 1908.

In 1972/73 it was rebuilt into its present form and is a multifunctional church building. The parish rooms are all in the church. There is no own community center and the church is reliably open (Tuesday - Sunday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm).

On Monday - when I was there - she is unfortunately closed.
