"Schessels-Beersche" is mentioned in the Chronicle of Thörlingen:
Although there is no proof of this, it is known from the traditions of our ancestors that there was an annual cattle market in Thörlingen around the turn of the century and probably earlier.
A proof of this could be provided by the "Schessels-Beersche" ("Schessels-Beersche").
Schessels-Beersche is a water point in the forest not far from the Viehmarktwiese.
It is located below a hiking trail on a rocky outcrop.
On this rock a round indentation was carved by human hands, in the shape of a bowl; hence the name "Schessels-Beersche".
It is assumed, at least that is what the Thörling chronicle says, that shepherds used to get supplies at this water point.

The loop is another attraction in the Upper Baybachtal. Start and finish is at the chapel in Thörlingen. There is a private parking space 200 meters away from the chapel. You can walk the very well signposted path in both directions. If you walk counterclockwise, you first go down a farm path into the Baybachtal. Here the loop at the “Strieders Mühle” (from August 2024 there will be a refreshment stop here where beer will also be brewed) unites with the dream loop “Oberes Baybachtal”. The path then leads past the “Sohnsmühle” and the so-called “Rutsch”. After about 300 meters you cross the Baybach on a wooden bridge. This is also where the “Oberes Baybachtal” and “Schessels-Beersche” paths separate again. Always follow the signs and after about one kilometer you will reach the “Schessels-Beersche” waterhole. Here a small resting place with a table invites you to linger. There is another larger opportunity to relax about 500 meters further. Here on the "Hoch-Ley" there is a cross and a small cupboard with soft drinks that you can help yourself to. After a little refreshment, the path leads slightly uphill and you leave the forest after about 400 meters. We then continue on a grass path over the Hunsrück heights to the next bench, where, when the weather is nice, you have a clear view of the "Hohe Acht" in the Eifel. After a short distance there is another opportunity to pause, namely at a wayside shrine at the height between Thörlingen and Bickenbach. This location offers a beautiful all-round view of Emmelshausen and the neighboring villages. Here the loop unites again with the dream loop “Upper Baybachtal”. From here it is only one kilometer to the destination at the Thörlinger Chapel. Another highlight on this beautiful circular route are display boards with poems by the Thörlingen poet Rudi Alexius, who passed away in 2023, which are set up at prominent points along the route.

Here, on the way to or from Schessels Beersche, this natural monument surprises us and shows us how omnipotent nature is
