Stavenort is mentioned as early as 1575. The name derives from a bathhouse (stove, stave) that used to be located here in the north-east corner of the old town. Narrow, two-storey half-timbered houses, some of whose outer walls consist of remnants of the old city wall, are characteristic of the formerly densely built and winding residential area. The Buxtehude Art School is located at Stavenort 16.

Hiking

Stavenort was first mentioned in 1575. The name derives from the bathhouse "Stave" located in this corner of the town. Until the 1920s, this corner of the town housed a densely built-up alleyway district with small apartments for poorer Buxtehude families.

When the entire demolition was threatened during the renovation of the old town in the mid-1980s, the Haus Fischerstraße 3 association campaigned to renovate the remaining six small houses and preserve their original structure.
