Six people were executed in the courtyard of the Glückstadt prison and madhouse, most recently the eight-time murderer Timm Thode on May 13, 1868. He had killed his parents, his five siblings and the maid on the night of August 8, 1866. To cover his tracks, he set fire to and burned the family farm.

...later penitentiary and madhouseIn 1640, King Christian IV. Bailiff Rantzau gave the Steinburg to demolish and build a house in Glückstadt. 1641-43 construction of the palace. In 1736 the heiress gave the state the Space for the construction of a kennel and madhouse. 1875 The prisoners are moved to Rendsburg, the house is used as a prison until 1927, today it is used as a residence.
