The water tower was in operation until 1965. It was then used as a restaurant and discotheque after conversion work. Today there is a private apartment there.

Hiking

The so-called Glückstadt water tower stands on a former bastion of the city's fortifications (address: Bohnstraße 1). The fortifications were razed in 1814 because they no longer made any military sense.
