The first structural construction of a lock in Heegermühle took place in 1620, in the years 1743 - 1746 a new building was built. In 1826 a lock was built in the northern part, which was filled up again in 1932. The lock in its current form was opened in 1876, and the steel upper gate was renewed in 1969.
