1537 - 1540 the last abbot of the monastery Altzella near Nossen, Andreas Schmiedewald, let the s.g. Build an abbot's house in Roßein. It fits in between the town hall and the town clerk's house. In 1544 he gave it to his brother, who was mayor of Roßwein. It was certainly also related to the results of the Reformation in Saxony. In 1565 the cloth makers' guild bought the house, which used it for several centuries. In 1919, an association was founded to work through the local history, which marked the birth of the local history museum in the abbey. In 1998 the local history association was re-established, through which you can visit the museum by prior arrangement.
The seat niche portal is a copy. The original was installed in the Altzella monastery.
