The reconstruction of the church in the authentic strict Romanesque forms in the style of the 12th century was led by Rudolf Schwarz. He uncovered the buried pillar bases, reinstalled the side apses in the transept, added a crossing tower and a baptistery to the north aisle. The floor plan bears features of the Carolingian mother monastery, Stift St. Alban in front of Mainz. In this reconstructed interior there are only a few pieces of historical equipment (sandstone lectern and sculptures from the 15th/16th centuries).

This basilica is not authentic to the period and therefore actually "styleless".
But anyone who has ever sat inside and listened to the silence will see that it is beautiful, especially from the inside, due to its Romanesque simplicity.
