St. Mary's Church Ueckermünde

I can only agree. As a supplement to the church tower can be climbed, offers a nice overview of Ueckermünde. The ascent is not easy for the elderly. The steeple of St. Mary's Church can be seen a few kilometers before entering Ueckermünde. It was consecrated on March 16, 1766, and has been an integral part of the townscape ever since.Of its predecessor, only a portion of the council pews dating from 1593 has survived. Interestingly, the coats of arms and house marks of the council members still hint at their roles. In the church itself, three chandeliers, created between 1648 and 1703, delight visitors with their historical splendor. Several large oil paintings depict religious figures, such as Luther and Calwin, or Ravenstein and Clausius. The oldest painting dates from 1684 and depicts Pastor Hograewius. The baptismal font was made in the same century.In recent decades, numerous renovation and restoration projects have contributed significantly to the preservation and beautification of this unique church: The altar was renovated in 1961, the church tower was extensively renovated in 1991, and after the roof and wooden ceiling were renewed and restored, numerous donations also made it possible to recast the broken church bells.In 2013, the final touch was added: Since the entire exterior facade was repaired, St. Mary's Church once again shines in ochre and white – the original color scheme from 1766.
