Ernst Meßwarb designed today's Heimatmuseum. Located on the market square, it is now used as a museum of local history. It was built in 1936 as a kindergarten with a local museum in the style of an old Rehburger Bürgerhaus. With the local museum Meßwarb probably created his own passion for collecting and his father's room. As early as the 18th century, Wilhelm Meßwarb began to encourage the Rehburgers to keep testimonies of earlier times. The collection of stories from and the history of Rehburg made Ernst Meßwarb in addition to the issue. His chronicle "From the Steinhuder Meer to the Weser" was published by the Rehburger Bürger- und Heimatverein 1997 as a book.

The museum informs about the origins of today's city (the old Reheburg), but mainly about the peasant life of earlier times. A knight's helmet from the 13th century, hand-painted guild flags, costumes and agricultural equipment from the 18th and 19th centuries as well as numerous everyday objects from past epochs form the focus of the exhibition. The team of the local museum also invites you to a cozy coffee hour in the parlor.Opening hours:
