The fountain with the figure of the "Wüsten Urschel", which has always been handed down by name as the "Market Fountain", is located on the old market square next to the town hall.
This figure is associated with the legend of a count's daughter from Hohennagold Castle. In reality, the fountain figure has a right-wing symbolic meaning: it represents the shield holder for the Nagold city coat of arms.
The fountain with the statue was created in 1747 by the stonemason Jakob Reich von Dornstetten, the stones were broken in Altensteig. Today's fountain figure is a copy made in 1967. The original of the fountain figure is in the foyer of the Nagold town hall.
