Nestled amidst gorgeous woodland to the northeast of Aviemore, Loch Garten is a beautifully tranquil place for a stroll. It's a treat for birders, with many species to spot such as ospreys and capercaillie. In summer, watch dragonflies and damselflies darting about, while you can also spy common lizards.

Loch Garten was the first place where Ospreys nested when they returned to Scotland. These amazing fish-eating birds spend the winter in Africa, returning to Scotland in late March and migrating to Africa again in August or September.
