The Evangelical-Lutheran church Johanniskirche in the district of Haina in the municipality of Römhild in the district of Hildburghausen (Thuringia) has been documented since the year 1300. The listed[1] building dates from 1839 in its current form.

The church is a simple hall church. The nave with three window axes was added to the essentially medieval choir tower made of field stones in 1615/16. In 1661 stairwells were built on the side. The top floor of the slated bell tower also dates from this time. There are two bells hanging in the belfry, one from 1483 and the other from 1666. The tower has a slate hood crowned by a lantern. The church was renovated in 1846 and a gallery was added. The nave is covered with a slate gable roof that has dormers. The interior is spanned by a wooden barrel vault. The baptismal font from the first half of the 17th century is decorated with fittings.

The winged altar was created at the end of the 15th century and is attributed to an Erfurt workshop. The altarpiece shows the coronation of Mary, flanked by saints. The twelve apostles are depicted in the side wings. The Annunciation and Adoration of the Magi are painted on the outer flights.

The organ with 17 registers, divided into 2 manuals and pedal, was built in 1856 by Friedrich Christian Knauf.
