    The greatest asset of the Brusselse Bossen is the varied landscape. You walk and cycle through small woods as well as through open meadows with beautiful views. In May, a carpet of blooming buttercups adorns the meadow. The adjacent Kattekensberg is a large play forest for little capons: fun guaranteed! And there is a dog zone where dogs can romp.

      The name 'Brussels Forests' goes back to the 18th century, when the Austrian government in Brussels gave orders to reforest. The remains of the Kattekensberg have their origins in old inland dunes. At the beginning of the twentieth century, these inland dunes were reforested for the upgrading of the Mariaburg district. The existing black and Scots pines reveal a past of timber extraction.
