From 1868 - 1972 the station was used for passenger and freight traffic on the Borsdorf-Coswig route. It was an occupied station until 1986. Since 2005 it has been a stop for regional trains on the Leipzig - Nossen route.
The listed station building from 1868 has been empty since 2003 and was rapidly falling into disrepair. It is a two-story type building with restrained decor in Neo-Renaissance forms. The station building houses apartments where people in need find shelter. The ground floor also houses a train station museum and rooms for club and youth work.
